Three members of the A5 Rangers Cycling Club rode the East Anglian VTTA 25mile Time Trial on a wet, cold and windy E2/25 at Newmarket.

- Ian Ellis 57:07

- Murray Kirton 1:05:48

- Trevor Parrish 1:08:16

The fastest ride of the day was James Rix of Team Bottrill with 46:51.

Running the time-trials needs a number of helpers each week, for time-keeping, pushing off and marshalling riders round the course.

We are looking to the club riders who take part to help out with marshalling duties, with maybe 1 marshalling stint for every 4 races they ride.

There's a requirement to get your name down for duties after your first TT, and to have helped out in 3 races over the season in order to win

a trophy at the end of the year.

Helpers are organised by Trevor Parish, you can phone him on 01604 764182 to put your name down - we need some volunteers for

11th April onwards.

I'll try to keep a current list of scheduled helpers on the TT calendar, but it's Trevor who has the definitive list.

For those with less experience, there is a link to guidelines for marshal duties below.

Entries are open now for BMCC's 9up team time trial on 15th June, it's 3 laps around the Silverstone F1 circuit, a great event

right on our doorstep. We've had at least one team in every year, and I'd expect there will be enthusiasm for an ' A team' again.

If there's enough interest we can also enter a 2nd team which could be Men's/Ladies/Mixed (at least 2 ladies in finishing 5) or

Vet's (over 40).

We would want to get entries in pretty quickly, and needs payment of £32 for each rider. Bear in mind that riders who are

detached from the team during the laps will be marshalled off the track, so a ride can be cut short, but generally the team

will be aiming to go fast by everyone working together for as long as possible.

Thanks to those who rode the 5m TT at Foxley this week, results below.

Next Wed (16th May) is 10m on the Greens Norton course. You can ride solo, but this week it's the designated 2-up, so if you can find a (preferably fast) friend there's the chance of a trophy. Sign on before 18:45 for 19:00 start.

The Club Time Trials Calendar has now been confirmed with the first race at the end of the month.

Time Trialing is good fun and a great way to challenge yourself. If you would like to give it a go then our 5 mile events give a great starting point. And, if you are not yet a member but would like to give time trails a go, all our 5 and 10 mile events are “come and try”. So please come along to see what it’s all about.
